Thank You to the Nation
Trophy News from St. Kitts and Nevis
People started congratulating me. For what, I wondered!
I had received emails and messages and a few friends had mentioned something about an award. I was surprised and absolutely thrilled to read a news article online, that I had been chosen to receive a Medal of Honor on National Heroes Day. This is completely unexpected and I’d like to sincerely thank the people of St Kitts and Nevis; those that nominated me, and the organising body, the National Awards Committee.
Football is my lifetime pursuit and something that contributes a great deal to who I am, my links to my community and the outside world. I recognise that through sports I have been able to bring enjoyment and pride to people in St Kitts and Nevis and I hope that I can continue to use the positive repercussions of football to influence and support others. I feel lucky to be doing what I love, but I never forget that nothing good comes without a struggle. It is recognition like this, despite the small place I occupy in a big global village that strengthens my belief and commitment to the relevance of community and the ability for each to bring something better to the table.
I put my heart into football, but I got it from the people of St Kitts and Nevis.
Thank you for reinforcing my professional resolve to represent St Kitts and Nevis with integrity, and my personal resolve to do well and make the most of the opportunities in front of me.
Yours Sincerely,
Keith Kayamba Gumbs
