Friend or Foe: Favre Faces His Former Team
Favre who currently dons a purple Minnesota Vikings jersey will be lining up against his former team, whom he played 16 seasons with, the Green Bay Packers. He will basically be taking on all of his former players besides one to show that he can make it with yet another team. It won’t be an easy task though considering Green Bay has a prevailing record of 5-1.

Madden says farewell to football
This fall will mark the first time since John Madden’s freshman year on the high school football team that he will no longer be a part of the game as a player, coach, analyst or announcer. The football world is not likely to see the likes of him again any time soon. If there were such a thing as a Master Gamesman Football Trophy or a Football World Lifetime Achievement Award – it would undoubtedly go to Madden.
He has earned acclaim for much more than his trophy wins, including nabbing the Vince Lombardi Trophy for the Raiders’ Super Bowl XI victory in 1977. The former Hall of Fame coach turned announcer and broadcaster has spent over 30 years in the booth and still made time to become a pop culture icon with his bestselling Madden NFL video game. Now in its 10th incarnation, PS3’s Madden NFL 10 made the scene in 2009, complete with virtual trophies. Read more »

Heisman Trophy Watch – Week 15

Sam Bradford added another Heisman-worthy performance to his resume against Oklahoma State last week. The Oklahoma quarterback threw for 370 yards on 30 of 44 (68.2%) completions and 4 touchdowns, didn’t throw a pick, and added a TD on the ground. He’s pulled away from the rest of the competition in terms off passing touchdowns. His 4 scores through the air give him 46 passing touchdowns on the season 5 more than Texas Tech’s Graham Harrell and 14 more than Texas’s Colt McCoy. Bradford is third in the FBS in total passing yards with 4,080 (340 per game). He’s also led the Sooners on one of the best runs in the country, a streak that includes 4 straight games of scoring 60+ points where the Sooners have won by an average of 34 points. Bradford has been consistently great for Oklahoma. His worst game? A 28-39, 387 passing yards, 5 touchdown performance against Texas, if only because his 2 interceptions probably cost the Sooners the game. The Sooners and Bradford look to stay hot this week in the Big 12 Championship against Missouri. The Sooners are 16.5 point favorites. Is there really any doubt that Bradford leads his team to a victory?
Texas quarterback, Colt McCoy keeps leading his team to wins. The only thing that hurts him is that his stats, other than his FBS-best 77.6 completion percentage, don’t stack up that well against Bradford’s (though you could argue that owns the most important stat: a head to head win over Bradford and the Sooners). By normal standards, however, Colt is having a great season. He’s thrown for 3,445 yards, 32 TDs, and just 7 interceptions. McCoy has also been dangerous scrambling out of the pocket. His 575 yards rushing are more than Florida’s Tim Tebow, and the Texas QB has added 10 touchdowns on the ground. If the Heisman Trophy were meant for college football’s most valuable player to their team, you could make a strong argument that McCoy deserves the trophy as there probably isn’t a single Heisman candidate that means more to his team. The award, however, is supposed to go to the “best” college football player and, for now, that distinction belongs to Sam Bradford. Sportsbook.com disagrees! Colt McCoy is currently their favorite to win the Heisman Trophy at even odds. Read more »
